Non Violent Response
to Aggressive Behavior TM-
A Safety Tool
For the past eight years, the Active Non Violence Group has
provided effective, reality-based training for professionals
working with challenging and potentially violent individuals.
Our central training program--Non Violent Response to Aggressive
Behavior TM --is a safety
tool rooted in key methods of the recognition, prevention and
management of workplace violence and aggression. Through skillful
use of verbal and non verbal interventions and realistic physical
techniques staff safety is ensured and a healthy and therapeutically
conducive environment is maintained. Non Violent Response
to Aggressive Behavior TM trainings increase staff
confidence and competency and reduce their stress and anxiety
in difficult situations. We pride ourselves in creating onsite
learning environments where participants can achieve a better
understanding of themselves, as well as gain insight into their
own and other people’s motives, signals and reactions
in conflict situations.
Needs-Assessed Trainings
We take our training beyond workshop theory: ANVG trainings
are all based on service-specific needs analysis. On site evaluations
that enable us to respond directly to the individual safety
needs of your agency and provide trainings that are congruent
with your organization’s policies and philosophy. As such,
we always offer customized, needs-based crisis intervention
and crisis prevention trainings rather than the typical one-size-fits-all
approach.
Reality Tested
Methods & Interventions
We are dedicated to teaching effective responses that empower
professionals with legal, ethical and compliant reactions to
incidents of violence. ANVG trainings offer responses that maintain
respect for the client, as well as heightening the overall awareness
and self control of service providers. ANVG methods emphasize
that physical interventions are always a last resort to be used
when an individual presents an imminent danger to self or others.
Even under those circumstances physical intervention is measured
and graduated responses help staff maintain their personal safety
and free themselves from potential or actual assaults. Our Secure
Disengagement Techniques TM are non-harmful, noninvasive,
and maintain the individual’s dignity and well being at
all times. Secure Disengagement Techniques TM,
preserve the therapeutic and working relationship with the aggressor(s),
and allow for continued de-escalation without seclusion and
restraint.
A Commitment To Legal
& Ethical Compliance
We are committed to staying abreast of and in compliance with
the many regulations, accreditation guidelines and legal issues
relevant to human service professionals working in high risk
populations. We also understand the challenges faced in providing
services and care to varied populations in difficult circumstances,
and our trainings take all these factors into consideration.
A Track Record Of Success
The Active Non Violence Group’s Non-Violent Response
to Violent Behavior TM trainings have improved the
safety and security of hundreds of metropolitan New York City
professionals. Among our clients are psychiatrists, physicians,
psychologists, social workers, case workers and front-line support
staff in city hospitals, substance abuse treatment clinics,
residential treatment programs and supportive housing facilities.
ANVG’s Non-Violent Response to Violent Behavior TM
trainings are fast becoming a new standard for dealing with
very real issues of workplace violence prevention and intervention.
We are proud to say that our trainings meet or exceed all Federal
and State laws and regulations, as well as the standards and
guidelines established by numerous accreditation organizations
in the United States and Europe.
